Based on context clues The C was some sort of immortal group that was sometimes referred to as a single entity. The C was allegedly connected to the group with cyclical names, he had a word he called them but he seemed afraid that you would be tempted by them if you knew too much too quick. It did imply they were able to make people immortal with fairly low effort
